The room my Google Home is bound to is now the default assumption and I have to say ALL now when I want the previous behavior. Good luck.īefore today (July 27, 2018), Phillips Hue via Google Home would control all targeted lights in all rooms simultaneously unless I mentioned a specific room. Where it gets a little weird is in the room described above, the Google Home Mini will answer "OK, turning off 7 lights." That's because it sees all switches and smart outlets as lights, so configure your rooms accordingly. Your phone counts as a listening device, too, so if it is the answering device, it will turn off all the lights in the room it's assigned to. When you say "OK, Google, turn off the lights," the answering device should answer, "OK, turning off N lights," where N is the number of devices in the room where the device is located. In the Google Home app, under Home Control, make sure to place all your devices into named rooms, including your Google Home devices - this is how the answering Google Home device knows where it is and what lights to control. So the total number of lights is 3 and the total number of ceiling fans is 1, even though there are 7 switches controlling them. 1 GE Z-wave light switch, controlling a SmartThings scene to switch everything on/off.2 Zigbee dimmer switch (battery powered), controlling the Zigbee outlet dimmers.2 Zigbee outlets, controlling 2 dumb table lamps.1 GE Z-Wave fan switch, controlling 1 ceiling fan. 1 Homeseer Z-wave dimmer, controlling 1 light. My most complicated room looks like this, so I'll use it as an example: 7 family devices running the Google Home App (v1.30.43.17 on my phone).8 Google Home Minis running the preview program.I thought this might help some other people that google this up later.
